The Dutch dance dramaturge Merel Heering invites us into the artistic methodology of caring. In times of crisis this approach to creating and co-creating becomes more and more important. In a society which distinguishes the personal from the professional, care work is often not considered ‘a part of the job’. Even in the performing arts field – thought to be the ideal site for practicing progressive values. In her keynote speech Merel Heering conveys why she considers practicing care as an act of resistance. She connects care to ethics and reveals ‘delay’ as her main strategy. Her work can be considered a call for care, as well as a call for day-to-day activism
