Miss Julie's Happy Valley.
Adapted from August Strindberg's Miss Julie by Michael Omoke - Verdenspremiere
ACT (Afro-Cosmopolite Thespians)
Kenya's colonial days, immortalized by Karen Blixen, were scandalized by the 'Happy Valley Set', a group of ultra - privileged aristocrats who were famed for their debauched hedonistic lifestyle, living in the "White Highlands" of British Kenya between 1920s-1940s. In re-imagining August Strindberg's classic 'Miss Julie', playwright Michael Omoke's 'Miss Julie's Happy Valley'' uses the play's fictitious tragic heroine character as a portrait of femme fatale Alice de Janze, a non fictitious notorious member of the group, who tragically committed suicide in 1941 shortly after the set's unelected ringleader, Lord Erroll, was murdered. The crime has never been solved...until now.
