Works at Work

On the surface “Crotch” is about art, its histories and heroes. Deeper, a sadness grows, a queer melancholy. A song, a dance, a lecture, talking to the dead. Moving across a stage full of sculptures, Hennessy references the images and actions of artist Joseph Beuys, embodying his shamanic beliefs and channeling this mythic figure. True to Beuys’ legacy and Hennessy’s improvisational practice, Chaos through Play becomes Form.

WORKS AT WORK is an international performance festival investigating artistic labor as a form of life. WAW takes place in November the next three years with this year’s focus on solo works. The duo and collective format will be explored in 2015 and 2016.
