I am Mephisto

A female body, a dancer is sharing her personal interpretation of the character Mephisto. She is exposing herself by staging her auto-fictional story, questioning the artists’ responsibility and asking, if a passion-driven artist can function within the borders of the conformist society?
What are the moral responsibilities of an artist, who wants to thrive in an
environment where the values of the majority do not match one’s personal values. The choreography inspired by the novel “Mephisto'' which was written by Klaus Mann in 1936. Our methodology of creating the choreography incorporates the working methods of Pina Bausch - researching the imperfection to show the essence.
